The Contouring Experiment

I recently acquired a BH Cosmetics Contour & Blush palette, and thus birthed my first experience with contouring, highlights, and shadows outside of theatre makeup. This snapshot is from Day 2, but it's an ongoing challenge, so I'll progressively post updates as they happen:

Review: Colour Pop Co. LBB and Blood Lippies, Birthday Girl Shadow

In terms of finding the Makeup Brands that I like, so far Colour Pop Cosmetics is up there. I've been trying to acquire a few products from everywhere, and I ordered their lippie sticks "Blood" and "LBB" a while back. At the time, they included a limited edition shadow for their company's birthday entitled "Birthday Girl".

LBB is a lovely "frosted berry" kind of color and, from swatches I have seen, seems to be a very close (if not spot on) dupe for Melt Cosmetics "Dark Room". Plus, it's only 5 bucks! Whut?! It stays put pretty well, only needing a minute touch up after meals. It's listed as a matte, but I find it on the creamy side as far as lipsticks go (although, I have no problem with that). Also, when I opened this lipstick and Blood, I was greeted by a lovely vanilla smell that I've grown fond of. 

Blood is listed as matte also, and is on the creamy side as well, in my opinion. However, it's a lovely dark red, not the vibrant, "Look at me!" kind. There is a time and a place for both types ;) very sultry, if that's what you're going for. Stays on all day, just like the former.  

I know Birthday Girl looks hard to see here, but it's a fabulous, pigmented gold shimmer that shows up wonderfully on the eyes or wherever else. It is full of sparkles and hopefully at some point they bring it back!

Honestly, I'm in love. I hope to buy many more things from Colour Pop Cosmetics, and at $5 a pop on lippie stix, pencils, and eyeshadows, it's hard to not want everything. There will be more reviews in the future, as they have introduced many new things :)

Egyptian Eyebrows!!!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics "Technopagan" Review

I've heard many great things about OCC's lip tars, and the lip art created with their products is without equal. So, of course, I had to try it for myself!

"Technopagan" is a lovely purple with a metallic shimmer that is put on with a lip brush.

First Impression:
The packaging is lovely and usable, to keep the product divided in a makeup bag whilst still being able to see what it is. The little lip brush it comes with is also surprisingly good quality.

The pigmentation is fabulous and the swatch on my lips is without a primer or pencil liner. It paints on like a gloss and then sets to a "metallic" finish after a few minutes, which is a bit of a cross between creme and matte.

After eating and drinking, it needed major reapplication, but the color stays fairly well for a few hours before needing touched up without food or drink. If you don't use a pencil to line your lips (eyeliner pencils would work just fine for this shade) there will be feathering around the edges, so keep that in mind. Also, it has an interesting texture after it dries, and can feel "built up" around the edges, but that may just be because of the absence of a primer.
